Our Instructors
Pat Erley PA-C
Pat started his Mountain Medicine Career over 15 years ago when he joined the Western State Mountain Rescue team in Gunnison, CO. Since then, he has been a part of many teams including Carbon County SAR and Seattle Mountain Rescue, participating in 100’s of missions. His true passion is Mountain Rescue and Mountain Medicine, but he especially loves teaching others what he has learned along the way. Pat enjoys moving fast in the alpine, terrain management and fast, effective trauma care. He works as an Emergency Medicine PA in Red Lodge, MT, and can sometimes be spotted hauling 3 young kids around in a raft on Montana rivers.
William Oley, MD, FAWM, DiMM
Billy has been wandering the woods for as long as he can remember. His love for Mountain Medicine has pushed him to complete his FAWM and DiMM. He has specific interest in trauma care and is a CALS and ATLS instructor, as well as the chair for the Eastern Montana Regional Trauma Advisory Committee. Billy is our resident expert on zoology and all things animal. His wealth of experience and knowledge from working in rural Emergency Medicine provides unmatched insight into the field of low-resource medicine. When he isn’t working as an Emergency Physician in Red Lodge, MT, he is outside with his wife and 3 kids hunting, hiking, climbing and enjoying wild places.
Pat and Billy are the Lead Instructors on all of our Hellroaring courses. They leverage their unique experiences and expertise to provide a truly varied education for our students. This is what we love to do, and we look forward to geeking out with you about all things Mountain Medicine!
